palniadmin's blogA Working Version 17 Client . . . At Last!Submitted by palniadmin on Mon, 06/27/2005 - 11:14am.
Finally, we seem to have a working Version 17 Aleph client that we can use for testing and training on our Spruce test server. Last week, Ex Libris managed to resolve some long-standing problems with the conversion of our Aleph staff users and permissions to V. 17. Over the past weekend, they also seem to have resolved some remaining problems with editing and savings holdings and bibliographic records, and have given us an updated system backup script for the new version of the system. We are continuing to work with Ex Libris on some remaining issues, including a problem with some new options for the configuration of patron sharing. However, it looks like PALNI Systems Librarians and staff may be able at last to begin working with the GUI client to access V. 17 on our Spruce test server, and our module target teams may now be able to begin training library staff on the the Version 17Aleph modules. Welcome to the PALNI News BlogSubmitted by palniadmin on Sat, 06/25/2005 - 4:20pm.
Each registered user for this web site can now submit news articles to be included on this site! Just click on the 'User Articles' menu choice (at the top of the page) to see the collective posts of all users of the system. You may use this capability to post your own PALNI-related articles that everyone will then be able to read, and comment on, via these pages. To submit your own article to the system, just click on the 'create content' link to the left, and then select the "Personal Blog" menu choice--this is actually implementing using the "blogging" subsystem of the underlying software. Note that you can also post attachments to your article postings. This could be an excellent way to share information of all types, including screen captures, documents of all types (e.g., 'pdf', MS-Word, spreadsheets), software, and other formats that do not fit well in a simple text format.
