PALNI Hosts Digital Library Metadata PresentationSubmitted by jason on Wed, 05/10/2006 - 9:04am.
On Tuesday, May 9, PALNI hosted Jenn Riley from Indiana University as she presented "Applying Digital Library Metadata Standards". Ms. Riley is the Metadata Librarian from the Digital Library Program at IU and has given many useful presentations on metadata standards around the state. Her presentation was given at the INCOLSA offices in Indianapolis, and simulcast to two locations in Nappanee and Charlestown.
Ms. Riley skillfully explained how traditional catloging techniques can be transferred to new digital metadata standards, the importance of choosing the proper metadata scheme, and the importance of composing metadata for general consumption. By all accounts the presentation was a great success! Handouts from Tuesday's presentation can be found here. printer-friendly version | printer friendly version | 277 reads
