Collette Mak, Director of Library Products for INCOLSA, has given us some informative statistics about PALNI's InterLibrary Loan borrowing and lending patterns over five months in late 2005 and early 2006.

In terms of ILL borrowing, the data shows that all PALNI libraries combined borrowed 33,390 items through OCLC ILL during the five month time period. Here is the summary of who PALNI libraries borrowed from overall.

PALNI ILL Borrowing
Indiana 21537 65%
Academic 28388 85%
Indiana Academic 17926 54%
PALNI 5193 16%
Public 2534 8%
Indiana Publics 1705 5%
Overall 33390 100%

For PALNI's ILL lending, the statistics show that PALNI libraries combined lent 21,712 items through OCLC during the five month time period. Here is the summary breakdown of who PALNI libraries lent material to.

PALNI ILL Lending
Indiana 14917 65%
Academic 16342 85%
Indiana Academic 11451 54%
PALNI 4600 16%
Public 1979 8%
Indiana Publics 1164 5%
Overall 21712 100%

For some reason, the numbers for PALNI borrowing from other PALNI libraries do not match the PALNI lending to other PALNI libraries, so I'm not quite sure what's going on there.

The raw data is included in the attachments. NOTE: Evidently, the five-month reporting period was October-November, 2005, and February-April, 2006, and excluded the presumably slow months of December and January.
