SFX Version 3: It's Alive

Version 3 of SFX went live at appx. 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005. We did encounter a few problems and delays along the way, but the process was completed in amazingly short order and, it was hoped, with relatively little pain. The entire process took exactly six weeks, from software download to final switchover. Some of the enhancements in Version 3 are:

+ An updated look to the web pages, including improved CSS stylesheet support.
+ An improved Admin interface, with the inclusion of several previously "Unix only" controls.
+ The ability to include local objects.
+ An enhanced A to Z list of e-journals.
+ Plus numerous software fixes and improvements.

Our thanks to the systems librarians who had to work very fast to migrate their SFX customizations to the new version.
